Welcome to the donation page for McDowell Healing Arts Center, we here are committed to improving the mental health in our community and those around us by utilizing psychotherapy (talk therapy), our partnerships, the healing arts and by bringing the community together in various ways.
We believe that mental health is an essential aspect of overall well-being. Our team of highly trained therapists is dedicated to providing accessible, evidence-based mental health services to individuals, families, and communities. We believe that mental health is a community effort, and we strive to be actively involved in our local community and support those around us. Our agency partners with other local organizations, schools, and healthcare providers to promote mental health awareness, reduce stigma, and provide support to those in need.
Your donation to our agency can help us continue to provide affordable mental health services to those who need it most. With your support, we can continue to offer a range of evidence-based treatments and therapies to help individuals and families overcome mental health challenges and lead happier, healthier lives.
Your donation can also help us continue to partner with organizations and schools to provide mental health education, resources, and support. By working together with our community, we can help reduce stigma surrounding mental health and improve access to mental health care for all.
We appreciate your generosity and support in our mission to promote mental health in our community and those around us.
We appreciate your generosity to our agency and commitment to the mental health needs of Saginaw and surrounding communities. Thank you for your support!
We conduct well over 1,000 psychotherapy appointments a month through face-to face interaction or by using telehealth services. These sessions help identify and change troubling emotions, thoughts, and behaviors, while allowing our clients to develop problem-solving skills, build confidence, and become more self-aware.
When people partake in artistic activities, it has a positive impact on their own mental health. These events bring various artists, mental health experts and the community together, creating a powerful synergy between everyone, while breaking down false stigmas about mental health in a judgement free space. We conduct these events for individuals, families, kids and organizations.
Group classes provide a supportive environment for individuals to connect with others who may be going through similar experiences, fostering a sense of community and belonging. Additionally, group classes can provide a structured routine and accountability, which can help individuals stay motivated and committed to improving their mental health. The social interaction and positive feedback from peers and instructors can also increase feelings of self-esteem and confidence, which are important aspects of mental health.
We love hosting events for our community. We put on events for Easter, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and other various occasions. These events provide a safe and inclusive environment for individuals to come together and celebrate, fostering a sense of community and belonging. Additionally, participating in these events can provide a break from daily routines and stressors, allowing individuals to focus on enjoying the moment and connecting with others.
Partnering with schools and other organizations allow us to expand our reach and impact to a broader audience. Some of our partnerships include Freeland school district, Saginaw ISD, Restoration Community Outreach, Saginaw County Juvenile Center, Adoption Partners of Michigan and many more.
Partnering with other healthcare providers can ensure that individuals receive coordinated, comprehensive care that addresses both physical and mental health needs.
We are proud to serve as a hub for Bachelor and Master level interns who have a focus in Social Work, Psychology, and Counseling. As an agency committed to promoting mental health and well-being, we recognize the importance of supporting and nurturing the next generation of mental health professionals.
Our internship program offers a unique opportunity for students to gain practical experience in a supportive and collaborative environment, working alongside experienced professionals to provide evidence-based mental health services to individuals and families. We believe that investing in the education and training of future mental health professionals is critical to building a stronger, healthier community.
We are grateful for the contributions of our interns and are committed to providing them with a rich and rewarding learning experience that will prepare them for successful careers in mental health.
Having a food pantry for our clients, plays a critical role in supporting them. Food insecurity can have a significant impact on mental health, leading to stress, anxiety, and depression. Providing access to healthy, nutritious food can help alleviate these stressors, improving overall physical and mental well-being.
Our food pantry can also reduce the financial burden of purchasing food, allowing individuals to allocate their resources to other important areas such as housing, education, and healthcare. Our food pantry is an important tool for supporting the mental health and well-being of individuals and families in need.
Our clients have access to a wellness coordinator. Wellness coordinators works with individuals to identify their unique needs/goals and develop a personalized plan to address those needs. By coordinating care and services across multiple providers and systems, our wellness coordinators can help individuals access the support they need to improve their physical and mental health, reduce stress and improve their overall quality of life.
Our wellness coordinators help our clients navigate complex systems and overcome barriers to care. Working with them can also promote self-management skills, empowering individuals to take an active role in their own care and navigate their healthcare and social systems with greater ease and confidence.
